Pastel Pink

I wore this outfit for a day of working at a local café, where I got some real sunshine for the first time in a long time. It was deliciously warm and entirely addictive. The weather in San Francisco (and the neighboring city where I live, one step farther down the coast) is often a bit too chilly and a bit too cloudy for this sunbaby’s liking, so the fact that one can drive 25 minutes and be tomando las rayas del sol is perfection. I took in those rays like there was no tomorrow . . . but then I came back again the next day and fully plan to again and again. Claaaaro que sí. Of course.

Last week, I attended a BareMinerals event all about moxie – a concept I love. They sent me home with some beautiful lip glosses, and this “Smooth Talker” is the perfectly pastel pink for a punchy, confident little beauty boost. Its slightly minty-fresh tingle and sheer, no-nonsense hue had my moxie at full force all day long. Perfect for the #getitgirl!

The New Boardroom Chic

I wore this modified suit for a day of client meetings and delivering completed projects. There is nothing quite as fulfilling as creating something unique that gets the people going. When I think back on the career I’d set my sights on through college – saving America’s health care – I am so grateful that I changed course, even though it meant building something from nothing and some restless nights. Now, I get to explore creative options and create exciting projects, and I love it. Having my blog on the side to feed my passions, too, is amazing. #ilovetheinternet

Making a new boardroom for myself is so exciting. And speaking of new things, these strappy Zara heels were my first shoe purchase from them and I am in love. Can’t wait to rock them every day when it warms up more.

Living in California has a million benefits, one of them being early spring. When the cherry tree blossoms appear, it feels like a new lease on the year and I love it. I’ve been doing some major spring cleaning around my apartment (decorating details on the blog soon!) and in my life (chao, clutter and chaos), and it feels amazing.

This drop-waist peplum is so my jam. The fit is extra comfortable, and I like the way it pairs with a pencil skirt for a client meeting, how I wore it in these photos. I’m also planning on rocking it with boyfriend jeans or a pair of leather leggings for a more casual look.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone had a day filled with love and celebration of the most powerful thing on Earth. There are people who scoff at the holiday and say it’s fabricated, but really, what in life isn’t? We add “artificial” importance to every day: the Earth orbits and spins whether or not you follow tradition A or B, and whether you wore your PJs all day or donned something that makes you feel oh-so-fabulous. Why not celebrate love every day? It doesn’t matter if you’re attached or not.

If you didn’t treat yourself yesterday, do it today. And tomorrow. And the day after that!

People with big hearts always win in the long run. So let’s all open ours and make the most of this wild ride around the sun. Let other people in. Let people out when they hurt you. I’ve recently had to do that a few times, and while it aches at first, everything gets better with time (especially wine).

Except cellulite. That stuff finds you out of nowhere, and I am here to tell you that more people need to let a girl know that it happens to almost everyone, no matter size. And yep, you’re still beautiful.

Sparkle + Stripes

I love wearing pieces that are more comfortable than they seem. This outfit is full of sneakily snuggly sparkles, which this Monday definitely needed. I’m so glad that I won these Warby Parker Zagg glasses over the holidays thanks to a Twitter contest – they give my eyes a much-needed break from contacts and I love the shape and their social responsibility factor.

Our internet went out over the weekend, and I didn’t mind terribly much because I was having a great time weekend-ing with some lovely people. We tried all the troubleshooting tricks for two days to cure those misbehaving signal ourselves, but ended up with an 8 AM Monday morning time window for Comcast. There are few things I want to do at 8 AM anymore, let alone cross my fingers that someone comes to bring the world back into my apartment. So, do you know the cure for the Monday morning blues? The Monday navy-blues-with-sequins-sparkle-stripes-and-a-favorite-fuzzy-skirts. It’s the truth, mate. Ahoy, into the week!

Jumpsuit for Joy

When I saw this jumpsuit at Nordstrom Rack, I thought there was no way it would fit. I’m 5’11″ with a 37″ inseam and a tiny torso, so nothing pre-fab fits my whole body – except this. And it was on major sale, as in I would have paid the original $295 but instead I only paid $59. Like, come on, is this real life? Jumping for joy.

I’m really liking setting my own rules for office suit attire. My boss says a jumpsuit is entirely acceptable in my home office (#selfemployedbenefits). I also actually wore this to a client meeting, and while running other business errands. Managing my own business is challenging, but I know that it will pay off in the long run and I am loving creating my own future. The biggest thing is finding your groove, then digging in and pushing forward.

Growing your own business is tough, guys! It’s the most liberating thing I have ever done, but also the most demanding. Despite late nights and lost sleep, I am still really proud. (Read: thank goodness for MAC concealer and Caribou K-Cups.)

We snapped these one morning before I ran to a client meeting. Le hubs is getting better and better with photos – major props, boo. This blushing pink skirt was purchased entirely for its shape, and I wasn’t sure how I’d make this color work with my fair complexion. Clearly, I went with what I love best!

This year has been off to a fabulous start. What is your favorite thing of 2013 so far? Mine is starting my own business and all of the pros and cons that have ensued. A learning curve has always been my forte, and this metamorphosis has certainly proven to be all I had hoped and more.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that big things have been happening in my life. Rather, I have earned some big changes for myself. I just went AWOL from the grind and am starting my own company, and I am effervescent with excitement, pride and ambition. It’s definitely more than the fact that I haven’t been tan in two years, I swear.

I wore this outfit for a day at my home office, then out to a cozy dinner with le hubs. This Gap sweater has been in high rotation ever since I bought it, with its perfectly boyfriendy-but-chic shape.

Another big announcement: I finally made the leap to the beautiful world of DSLR photography and I’m not going back. I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it.

Cheers to all my #getitgirl friends out there. Bravo.

Despite the à gogo length of leg happening over here, this is one of my favorite ensembles to run around and get things done. The fluffy mini is extremely comfortable (even when we did this shoot on the chilly, chilly beach) and stacks of jewelry make everything better. Write that truth down.

Le hubs and I have come to a crossroads in our life, and as usual, we are taking the road less traveled by. It is making all the difference, and I am loving it. We are so a-go-go every day and I wouldn’t have it any other way, except on the days that I just need a nap. But there’s no time for a nap right now, I’m à gogo on my go-go.

This outfit was very quick to assemble and get out the door. We had places to be and people to see without time to get ready — which is why I love stocking up on go-to pieces like these that don’t require much strategizing in case of emergency.
