Maxed Out Chic

White fisherman sweater: Gilly Hicks // Black pleated maxi skirt: Laundry by Shelli Segal via TJMaxx (similar here by THEORY) // Faux leather moto: Target (last year, similar from this season here)// Pointed black pumps: Nine West via Nordstrom // Burgundy handbag: Michael Kors Astrid Satchel // Black and gold necklace: Forever21 // Gold dog tags: Express // Tiered gold necklace: Target

This maxi skirt was a staple for me over the summer, and now that cooler weather has hit, I wanted to find ways to wear it year-round. I bought this Gilly Hicks sweater while back home in Minnesota last month (Mall of America, I miss you so) and I am kind of obsessed with layering it over all my staple pieces now. Maxing out all of my chic options is a good thing in my book!

As I mentioned yesterday, I love using fashion to bolster my inner #getitgirl and stay motivated, no matter how maxed out I may be in the rest of my life. The inspiration is never-ending when you remix your favorite pieces. Chin up, heels on, layered necklaces, done. Bazinga!

8 to 8 Chic

Sequin-collar blouse: Forever21 // Pencil skirt with faux leather detail: Forever21 // Watch: Invicta // Perfume necklace: H&M // Pointed pumps: Nine West // Moto: Target

It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of working long days, but I’ve been making more time for fitting in what I love on my off-hours to keep me more inspired when I’m on. Blogs like 9 to 5 Chic and Atlantic-Pacific (Blaire is so iconic, and so sweet) keep me motivated to keep my style game high and to share it on my blog.

I dedicate this post to those of us who work long hours, commute long hours and still keep it together throughout the day well enough to let a (known) paparazzo get a few snaps. Bravo, bloggers. Hats off to the #getitgirls! We do it with sparkle, we do it with poise, we keep it chic for twelve hours a day and we document it. That, fellow fashionistas, takes guts and glamor. And the occasional sequined collar and extra-large Diet Coke.

Love and Loyalty

You may have noticed I have been a little quiet over the past two weeks here on Sarah’s Ambitions — trust me, I’ve noticed. I can’t wait to be able to follow my lovely little editorial calendar to a T! I could give you a million excuses: I’m working on an exciting next step as I work on my current footing, a puppy ate a lamp (and a paper shredder and another lamp), we had to go to the emergency vet — once for each puppy, my grandpa turned 100, I forgot my dad’s birthday was two days after that, my husband got sick, I had to park and re-park multiple times in San Francisco . . . really, the list goes on. But you know what? It boils down to what is most important in life. My little family is my priority, and as much as I love my blog, when my loved ones need me, I am 100% there. Love conquers all, and my tight-knit California family sticks together through thick and thin. I’ll be back ’round these parts soon enough. Until then, show someone you love just how much they mean to you. Then, let’s do what we love — get back to the #getitgirl way of life.

P.S. A big, warm hug to all my friends who make me smile, too. Love you like a love song!
