Runway Spring/Summer 2013: Oscar de la Renta

Each runway season, I wait with bated breath for my favorite designers to send their perfectly coiffed, expertly adorned models down the runway in a sartorial strut incredible enough to keep the fashionable masses satiated for a few months, until the next season begins the parade again. This season, I am just starting to catch up on the New York shows, as my own #getitgirl march down the career runway takes place. Without further ado, my first fashion month feature of the season:

Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2013 was a beautiful and feminine homage to this established fashion house. In addition to the staples done in classic tones, Oscar got a bit playful, injecting girlish pops of color as streaked hair strands and contrasting hues. As usual, the highlight of the collection was the beautiful ballroom gowns, each a strapless masterpiece — one playing to the chevron madness that has swept the fashion scene, the other a feathery confection of pastel blue. A nipped, defined waist was a common theme, whether with the now-established peplum trend or a belted sweater and skirt combination. Straying from the stacked bangles of seasons past, there was instead focus on a single statement piece for accessorizing. The upswept hair lent a serene aspect, and fresh-faced beauty is always on point for spring.

So magical! I can’t wait to dive into the rest of fashion month.
