The Sweet Escape

Vintage owl bangle: Marika King (prize from a Digitally Chic event) // Angel wings bracelet: H&M // Turquoise and gold bracelet: H&M // Gold cuff: H&M

Gwen Stefani has long been my celeb style icon, and when I wore the outfit featured in yesterday’s post, someone told me I looked just like her. Ever since then, I have been glowing and have gone b-a-n-a-n-a-s with references.

Le hubs and I have never taken a real vacation together, ever. If we could escape, and recreate a place that’s our own world, since I am his favorite girl, forever, perfectly together . . . we’d be on a beach for two weeks, stat. Reality is, that’s not in the budget. But what is? Shopping my closet!

This was my getaway dress for our wedding. I wore my perfect wedding gown for the entire reception (I am still madly in love with that dress) and then slipped into this little number for our getaway to the honeymoon. (Yep, we took a road trip to Northern Minnesota, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.)

Ever since an epiphany of sorts the other day, I have been rocking many of my wedding mementos on an everyday basis (my jewelry here, a bangle stack there). With our second anniversary so close and some admittedly stressful times, there is nothing I want more than my lovely little family. La moda has always been my choice way of honoring memories, whether it’s souvenirs or pieces from special occasions. How better to express myself than with what I have on?

I wore this outfit to an evening of blogger events with some of the leading ladies in my life. The compliments I received on my dress left me feeling completely flattered. Plus, everyone loved the gorgeous-yet-delicate statement earrings on loan from my favorite Stella & Dot stylist, Kristina Hagerty. They’re extremely lightweight and comfortable, and it’s rare to find statement earrings that have studs instead of clips. I love them!

My sweet escape is love — and if I can make it a little more stylish with my getaway dress and a little more sparkly with some pretty earrings — well, it seems like Sarah’s Ambitions is right on track.

Xo, Sarah

I love that you are able to wear all of the pieces from your wedding in new ways. Combining the getaway dress with a leather jacket is perfect.
